Clear definitions for the metrics and transforms in WordPulse.
Word count
The number of words in a text. WordPulse prefers Intl.Segmenter Unicode word boundaries when available.
Character count
Total characters including spaces, plus a separate count excluding whitespace.
Flesch Reading Ease
A 0-100 readability score where higher means easier to read. Many web audiences target roughly 60-70.
Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level
Estimates U.S. school grade level needed to understand the text.
Keyword density
How often a term appears relative to total words, shown as a percentage. WordPulse can filter stopwords and show n-grams.
Reading time
Estimated minutes to read based on words-per-minute: Slow 200, Fast 300; speaking ≈ 150 WPM.
URL slug
A URL-safe string derived from a title, usually lowercase with hyphens instead of spaces.
